Professor James Herbert Williams from Arizona State University was invited to give lectures at the School of Sociology

On November 26-27, 2018, Dr. James Herbert Williams, Dean of the School of Social Work and Professor of Social Welfare Services, Arizona State University, was invited to the School of Social Affairs, China University of Political Science and Law to give two academic lectures on judicial and social work. From 9:30 to 12:00 on November 26, 2018, on Haidian campus, Mr. Xiong Guibin, on behalf of the teachers and students, welcomed Professor James to our department for academic exchanges, and gave a brief introduction to the professors. During the lecture, Professor James focused on the "Social Development Model" (Social Development Model) for the active development of youth, and elaborated on the specific goals, intervention process and research results of the project operation in the United States. At the same time, Professor James pointed out that the environment has played a vital role in the growth and recovery of youth groups with anti-social behaviors, and pointed out that there is a relationship between individual-family-community (culture)-society-macro-integration. Theme 2: Children’s exposure to intimate partner violence and anti-social behavior

On November 27th, 4:30-6:00 pm, Changping campus, Professor James started from the research on animals and domestic violence, and explained the participants selected in his research, related investigation methods and evaluation tools, as well as confidentiality and knowledge Consent and other information. Professor James also discussed the related content of "Checking the problematic behaviors of Latinos/children who have experienced intimate partner violence." From the background to the measures and then to the four data tables, the final results were obtained in one go, clearly and clearly. At the end of the lecture, the professor patiently answered the questions raised by the teachers and students present. On behalf of the college, Mr. Xiong Guibin awarded Professor James a distinguished professor certificate. This lecture broadened our horizons and allowed us to learn to study problems from a novel perspective. As in the lecture, the professor elicited children's antisocial behavior from the pet. Pets are family members, and research on animal abuse also reflects children’s exposure to intimate partner violence and anti-social behavior.
